let's be real

Our clean laundry has been sitting in a basket all week. Literally 6 days.
The bed rarely gets made.
Dinner? Prepared on Sunday plus one other lucky night of the week.
Hair? Again, done on Sunday.
I managed to clean the toilet for the first time in a while, normally I clean out of habit.
But this time it was necessity.
Things are falling by the wayside, people!

Yesterday morning I woke up after a hard night.  I had a dream that I was hiking in a scary, frost-covered, Narnia-ish land & found a terrifying, 12 foot bear.  And then I climbed up a tree à la Katniss to hide/save my life.  The bear was huge & hungry & I thought, "I am going to get eaten" because he was as tall as the tree I had climbed to safety.

Not my most peaceful or refreshing beauty rest.  Woke up earlier than I wanted to, and with a backache.  I got in the shower & felt much better.  Then I wanted Mckay to wake up and talk to me and love me and make me feel better, but I wanted him to do this without being told to do it. (right?)

Sigh, he didn't catch my drift.
He was sleepy.
So I got mad.

And wouldn't share my cereal with him because I didn't want his "breath to get on it".
SERIOUSLY?!  Who am I?  A psycho.  But it gets worse.

Because then I decided to be mad at our messy house (that he thinks is clean).  So I told him that he had to make the bed because he was the last one out. But a few minutes later I got back in and he jumped out and said, "Who's the last one out of bed?!".  Push my button, honey. Que irrational yelling of "You are so annoying!" -I was literally mad at him. Then all my stress bubbled up and I was crying at the laundry/unmade bed/running late/bad hair day/mean husband/lower score than I wanted on my test/lack of sofa/lack of time/lack of life right now.

Of course later I felt like a complete nut job.  Especially when he was so incredibly baffled at his sweet wife turned Dracula and expressed his literal shock at how this could be, when just the day before we were so in love.  He told me that he came to bed that night (I was sleeping, he was out playing basketball) and cuddled me and kissed my neck "probably 100 times" and whispered in my ear how much he loved me.  Yes, melt my heart and rub in the fact that I am, literally, a psycho.

But the day got better.  Because that night he played football & I baked & then we came together on our picnic blanket and pillows piled on the hard floor and watched this week's GCB (pure, inappropriate, hilarious genius) & all was well again.

Look at him so excitedly and adorably telling me ALL about his football game.
First one of the season! He's the QB this time & so elated.
It was hilarious, him coming home with so much to share.
"Hold your arms like this, like you're catching the ball", "Here's why quarterback is fun- you get to touch the ball every play!".

Everything is fine in the world again, with GCB, football & chocolate chip muffins to ease the nerves.

no I'M THE EXACT SAME IRRATIONAL PSYCHO!!!! it's the best. i REALLY am. last night i paused the movie to make popcorn. so i made the popcorn and took in the popcorn, &glass of ice water to dan and then had to go to the bathroom. so dan started to eat the popcorn and i started YELLING at him. DON'T EAT ALL THE POPCORN. YOU'RE GOING TO EAT ALL THE GOOD POPCORN ON THE TOP. DON'T. EAT. IT!!! i was l i t e r a l l y mad at him. i've done the "you're so annoying" thing too. at the moment i'm legitimately upset even though i know it's no good reason. you have a good reason tho, nursing school. I LOVE YOU!!! i'm glad we're all psycho's together. :)

Yeah, this post made me happy. Pretty sure I'm always like this without the stress of school or any legitimate reason. Sometimes it's nice to hear that other peoples lives aren't disgustingly perfect like they post on their blog. I might be jealous when I read other people blogs because their lives seem perfect.

And to Rachael... I would do the same thing too. I wouldn't get my fare share if the other person started eating first...and the most yellow pieces! I am pathetic ha.

This post should be titled: We're All Human. School makes me crazy sometimes, too. Add the stress of being a nanny and having to cook/clean/do laundry at someone else's house all day and then come home to the same thing... not a good combo!

We're just lucky to have husbands who love us and who realize that it's not US that are psychos. It's just the stress and we'll be back to normal tomorrow. Or in five minutes.

This post is awesomely funny! I'm sorry you were feeling that way, but at least you are in good company. I don't even know how Mark is still married to me, because I'm psycho about 99% of the time.

It is called NURSING SCHOOL my dear! Not that I find this funny at all...but I do remember a time we were sitting in Texas' dinning room and I told you the joys of how you were about to lose your life as well as mind. I know it's hard and drives you crazy but it will all be worth it in the end! Love y'all!
love,
Rachel (little sister)

Don't worry Nic, we all have that Dracula tendency. It will rear it's ugly head more times that we like to admit. :)

About the cleanliness of the house (at least your laundry was clean): I have decided that there are days when my house being clean is really important. But for right now, if it comes to cleaning my room or reading a book . . . I am going to read a book. If I am stressed about the house because it is messing up my chi then sure, i will clean it, but if i am stressed because it is messing up some kind of status in my brain that doesn't truly matter, you can bet your boots I will be reading.

Hi, welcome to my life. I have a really silly story about being so angry with Joel that I flipped the lights off and on while he was sleeping and started throwing pillows at him. It seemed totally rational at the time. Just blame it on the hormones, I always say. I love this "let's be real" post!
